The maps and the official survey data of the boundary make up the documentary evidence of the location of the boundary between Canada and the United States. Their official status is conferred by the ratification of the maps and reports by the two Commissioners, confirming their agreement as to the position of the markers placed under their authority. They make public the official geometry of the line expressed in terms of the latitude and longitude of each point marking the line, as well as the relationship between them in terms of azimuth and distance. The maps are a graphic representation of this agreement and they can be accessed through this section. The map browser also depicts the boundary in a way that would have been unimaginable years ago.
